04 Sep 2010 | PhoenixKM to coordinate new VIRGIN LLP project

PhoenixKM will be coordinator of a new Lifelong Learning Programme project under the sub-programme KA3 ICT, entitled VIRGIN (Virtual portal for ImpaiRed Groups Interaction) that is scheduled to start on 1st January 2011.
VIRGIN platform has as core objective to support people with disabilities (PwD) in enhancing their basket of skills needed to improve their position on the regular labour market and heightening their chances of employment. Since VIRGIN platform aims to encompass and offer a wide range of learning objects (LOs), and specifically with focus on Basic ICT skills (see Lisbon Objective on digital literacy), VIRGIN platform aims to become the one-stop-shop community for both trainees (PwD) and trainers.

To ensure this, VIRGIN will offer a combined set of:
- accessible, innovative and Web 2.0 enriched tools and environments (portal, community, learning environment)
- free access to trainers, trainees and content providers and developers to LOs repositories to compile their own creative eportfolios
- supported with innovative serious games and mobile applications that embrace both Web 2.0 social services, and that potentially can be expanded with web 3.0 (semantic web) aspects to allow a better categorisation.
